Choosing a major in PK-12 health and physical education offers a unique opportunity to teach lifelong habits of physical activity and healthy living among PK-12 students. The Instructional Technology Specialist Certification Program (PK-12) is designed for educators who are motivated to develop their instructional technology skills, while also preparing teachers for supervisory roles in online instruction.  The courses are built upon our Online Instructional Endorsement’s framework and also by the standards put forth by the International Association for PK-12 Online Learning (iNACOL).

The Online Instruction Program Endorsement (PK-12) is designed for classroom teachers who are passionate about developing their craft in the online environment, while also preparing to become teacher-leaders in the field of instructional technology.  

Eastern University's undergraduate BS in Special Education prepares excellent teachers and educational practitioners who can serve in a variety of school settings. Students are trained to communicate effectively, think critically, embrace cultural and linguistic diversity, utilize technology appropriately, practice inclusive interventions, learn independently and collaboratively, and serve competently in their field. This program is designed for students who are interested in obtaining the Certification in Special Education (PK-12).

Eastern’s 100% online MEd in Educational Leadership prepares teachers to become leaders and change agents in their schools and districts. The dynamic curriculum covers current practices, compares those to leading national and international exemplars and inspires students to think critically about the role of educational leaders today. While earning an MEd, complete coursework (including an internship) toward your Principal or Single Area Supervisory Certification.

The BS in Special Education allows students to combine this degree with the PK-12 Special Education Certification. Students also have the opportunity to add-on other relevant certifications such as Elementary, Middle Level, Secondary Education or English as a Second Language.

Students seeking a secondary certification to teach in any 7-12 grade will first take all the course requirements for a major in the respective subject, e.g. English. The student will then take the additional educational courses required to receive secondary certification in one of the following areas of study: Biology, Chemistry, English, Math, Social Studies or a Language (Spanish and French). Therefore, the subject is the major and secondary education or language certification is the area of study.
