The successful completion of the ESL Program Specialist Certification will prepare students to develop classroom enterprises best suited for academic and individual needs of English learners. Graduates will be eligible to teach English as a Second Language in the elementary and secondary level (PK-12) in public schools. Candidates must hold or concurrently work on an Instructional I or II teaching certificate. 

Eastern University's Certification in World Language Education (PK-12) program prepares excellent teachers and educational practitioners who can serve in a variety of school settings. Students are trained to communicate effectively, think critically, embrace cultural and linguistic diversity, utilize technology appropriately, practice inclusive interventions, learn independently and collaboratively, and serve competently in their chosen field.

As one of the few programs of its kind in the state, Eastern University’s 100% Online Health and Physical Education graduate certification program is equipped to guide adult learners, leading to the opportunity to become Pennsylvania certified teachers from grades PK-12. This program can be combined with our various Master of Education programs for those seeking to advance their careers in the field of education.

The Certification in Middle Level is committed to the task of equipping its graduates to comprehend and apply the knowledge, concepts, and skills essential for successful middle level instruction, grades 4-8. The program is designed to promote the delivery of a high quality teacher preparation program which is aligned to the state academic standards. The intent is to produce new teachers who will understand and successfully apply learning principles in the classroom. The needs and interests of middle level students and their schools are at the center of the program.

Eastern University is committed to meeting the standards and competencies of the Pennsylvania Department of Education in all of our certificate programs. The successful completion of the Certification in Music program will prepare students to teach PK-12 music.

The successful completion of the Supervisory Certificates program will prepare students to provide supervision within a specified instructional or educational service area of the curriculum or school program.  The Supervisory Certificate programs are offered only at the graduate level. Candidates must hold certification in the same area as the Supervisory Certificate they are seeking and have completed five years of satisfactory experience in the area of the Supervisory Certificate.
