The MEd in Reading equips students to meet a wide range of literacy needs in schools through effective tools for assessment and instruction.

The Certification in Reading Specialist program is designed to prepare students to serve as PK-12 Reading Specialists who support students and teachers through research-based approaches to assessment and instruction. The Specialist Certification programs are offered only at the graduate level and candidates must hold an Instructional I or II certification.

The Certification in Secondary Education - Biology program is designed to prepare students to teach Biology in grades 7-12. To be able to teach biology in a Pennsylvania (PA) public secondary school, students must hold a degree in Biology or the equivalent.  In addition to completing requirements in their major, they need to fulfill secondary education requirements.  Observation and teaching in an approved classroom with guidance and evaluation is required.

The Certification in Secondary Education - Chemistry program is designed to prepare students to teach Chemistry in grades 7-12. To be able to teach chemistry in a Pennsylvania (PA) public secondary school, students must have an undergraduate major in Chemistry or the equivalent in the area of certification.  If not, students may be required to take additional courses in their major in addition to secondary education requirements. Observation and teaching in an approved classroom with guidance and evaluation is required.

The graduate online Early Childhood Director course work at Eastern University is part of the requirement for the Pennsylvania Director Credential offered through the PA Keys. The three courses in this program help prepare those working in Early Childhood centers gain the leadership skills necessary to direct a high quality Early Childhood program. This course work is necessary for directors in STAR 3 & 4 and Head Start programs.  Credits earned through Eastern University’s Director Credential Program can be applied towards our Certification and MEd programs.
