To be able to teach Social Studies in Pennsylvania (PA) public secondary schools, students need to declare a major in either History or Political Science and elect a concentration in secondary education.  In addition to completing requirements in their major, they need to fulfill the following requirements.

The BS in Early Childhood Education is an accelerated program designed to help working adults complete a bachelor’s degree in Early Childhood Education and become certified to teach in PK through 4th grade classrooms.

The BS in Early Childhood Studies is an accelerated program designed to help working adults expand career opportunities in the child care field with options for certification from PK to 4th grade. This program does not include student teaching.

The AA in Early Childhood Studies program prepares students for a career in various segments of the Child Care industry, along with paths to work in the field of Early Childhood Education as a PDE certified instructor. Graduates will meet Level B requirements on the Pennsylvania Early Childhood Education Career Pathway.

Become an advocate for students while promoting the welfare of an entire learning community.The MEd in School Counseling prepares you to seek state certification as a PK-12 school counselor, licensed professional counselor, and licensed behavior specialist.

If you have already earned a master's degree in a related field, you may qualify for our CAGS or Certification Only program in School Counseling. An interview and transcript review can be completed prior to applying to determine eligibility.

The Master of Education in School Health Services is committed to preparing professionals to function effectively in settings in which children and youth are served. The mission of the program is to produce outstanding health professionals who are committed to meeting the needs of a diverse population and to their holistic development.

The successful completion of the Certification in School Health Supervisor program will prepare Certified School Nurses to supervise school health services in the elementary and secondary levels (K-12). Candidates must hold a School Nurse Certification and have completed five years of satisfactory experience in the school setting. 

The Certification in School Nurse professional education program is offered fully online and meets the requirements for the Education Specialist 1 (K-12) Certification in School Nurse in Pennsylvania.

Students need not have a background in education to apply, making the PK-4 Certification perfect for career changers and those with a variety of educational backgrounds. Upon completion, students can easily transition into one of our Master of Education programs.

The Certification in PK-4 with Special Education (PK-12) program is designed for students who are interested in pursuing a certification in PK-4 with Special Education (PK-12). Students need not have a background in education to apply, making this program perfect for career changers and those with a variety of educational backgrounds. The successful completion of the ESL Program Specialist Certification will prepare students to develop classroom enterprises best suited for academic and individual needs of English learners. Graduates will be eligible to teach English as a Second Language in the elementary and secondary level (PK-12) in public schools. Candidates must hold or concurrently work on an Instructional I or II teaching certificate.
